        Introduction

Gao Fei, Principle Investigator, Doctoral Advisor, deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Genetic Data Analysis, Ministry of Agriculture, Young talent of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Leading talent of Shen Zhen city, member of professional committee of Epigenetics, Genetics society of China and member of Aseptic Animal Society, Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences.

Research focus on the role of epigenetics in normal development as well as complex diseases, especially on how environmental factors, i.e. nutrition and microbiota, may affect host epigenetics. He has published 45 peer-reviewed papers at international journals for instance Genome Biology, Cell Research etc., including 29 papers as the first or corresponding author.

  Research Field

Our team mainly focused on: 1) developing new methodologies of animal epigenomics; 2) epigenetic effects of nutrition and microflora and 3) epigenetic regulation of animal development and disease processes.

  Achievements

Using a novel whole-genome bisulfite sequencing technology specifically designed for minute amount of DNA input, AEG team, for the first time, obtained single-base resolution DNA methylomes of early stages of primate embryos; Collaborating with Copenhagen University and Sichuan Agricultural University, studying the effects of early feeding or gut microbiota on DNA methylation in the small intestine and functional genes of intestinal immune–metabolic pathways by multi-omics methodologies in piglets. Furthermore, discovering gut microbiota changes links with rapid body-mass gain under antibiotic feeding condition. For the last three years, we publish their research work in a series of international journals including Cell Research, Genome Biology, DNA Research, Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry etc.
