  Research Field:

  1) Development of new methodologies of animal epigenomics,

  2) Effects of nutrition and microflora on animal epigenome, and

  3) epigenetic regulation of animal development and pathology.

  Achievements:

We have developed a novel whole-genome bisulfite sequencing technology specifically designed for the minute amount of DNA sample, and obtained single-base resolution DNA methylomes of early stages of primate embryos with this technique. In collaboration with Copenhagen University and Sichuan Agricultural University, we validated the effects of nutrition and gut microbiota on DNA methylation and the function of immune and metabolic genes in intestinal tissue of weaned piglets through a multi-omics approach, revealing that early feeding may be important to stimulate the methylation reprogramming of intestinal genes, allowing rapid intestinal adaptation. These work have been published on Cell Research, Genome Biology, DNA Research, Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, Frontiers in Immunology etc.
